The Justice-Columbia Lodge No. 3 Veterans Day 10K

Sunday, November 12, 2006, West Potomac Park

Washington, DC

Dear Brethren of Justice-Columbia Lodge No. 3:

I am pleased to report on our proud involvement in the 7th Annual Veteran's Day 10K Race in Washington, D.C. As you may have read in the recent Voice of Freemasonry, our Lodge has stepped forward as the title sponsor for this race. This is an outstanding opportunity for Masonry in general, and our Lodge in particular, to showcase what we are and what we stand for.

Our sponsorship will be of tremendous value to the Helping Our Heroes Foundation, which is the charity for this race. The foundation provides a way for donated funds and services to directly reach our injured military and a way for concerned Americans to volunteer to actively support our armed forces.

The race takes place on Sunday, November 12, 2006, and is expected to attract well over 2,000 runners. It also will be a well-publicized event, attracting considerable media interest, and bringing much-needed attention to Masonry and Justice-Columbia Lodge.

To make the most of this opportunity, however, our Lodge's needs-your involvement and support. We need volunteers on race day, word-of-mouth dissemination to any and all, additional contributions and gifts for runners, and most especially your attendance to cheer on your fellow Masons, and support a most-worthy cause. Specifically, you can help by:

  • Volunteering on Race Day: We will need people to staff an information and registration table, the bag holding area, and water stations along the race course.

  • Volunteering Before the Race: The race organizers need people to help stuff the bags for the runners.

  • Gifts for Runners: If you know of a company that would be willing to donate to the race by providing gifts to include in the runners' bags, or more substantive gifts to the winners, that would be most welcomed.

  • Registering for the Race: Whether running 10K or participating in the 2.25 mile fun walk, the best thing you, your family and friends can do is to show up and support us in person.

If you can help in any of these ways, please contact me on (202) 236-6324 or email at VA10K@justice-columbia.org.

Names of volunteers will be kept until the race organizers are ready to make volunteer assignments. If you want to register, I can add you to our "team." More information can be found on

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely and fraternally,

Charles E. Blue,

Junior Warden
